Even if you’re not a football fan, it’s hard to miss the spectacle that is Super Bowl Sunday. This year for the first time, an advertising agency was hired to maintain a social media command center to monitor online conversations about the upcoming event. Proving just how much we use and rely on social media, the command center was able to answer questions and provide information for football fans.
Some people tuned in on Sunday, not to watch the New York Giants defeat the New England Patriots, but instead to rate the highly anticipated commercials. This year, a 30 second time slot cost 3.5 million dollars, and the excitement around the commercials was hyped with early releases and teasers of some of the ads.
